Our first pups! May 2021

Ruby's first litter of pups safely arrived on 21 May! She gave birth in the lounge, with Suzy acting as midwife and moral support. Then we moved Ruby and her 6 pups into the whelping box Coops made her, in the main bathroom. The set up is working really well. The bathroom is close but quiet as the other dogs don't go down that end of the house. Little ledges in the whelping box mean that the puppies won't be squashed, which is something we were initially a little worried about. Also, Ruby can jump out when she needs a break. The under floor heating keeps the little guys toasty in these cold winter nights. We are using thick woolly rugs which we just throw in the machine every day. Everything is going swimmingly and we chuffed at how Ruby has taken to motherhood. The little guys are completely gorgeous.
